Raider Crew wraps up successful April racing

This past weekend the Raider crew team concluded a busy April with a commendable performance at the FSRA Sculling and Sweep State Championships in Sarasota. The team showcased its resilience amidst challenging conditions, displaying competitive grit across various events, achieving success never before seen by the team. At the FSRA Sculling States held on April 13th and 14th at Nathan Benderson Park, RE crew fielded eight entries across seven events. Despite contending with strong cross winds, the Raiders maintained their focus, securing a sixth place overall finish in the scholastic team portion out of 21 organizations. Building on this momentum, the Raiders continued their relentless pursuit of success at the FSRA Sweep States on April 27th and 28th . A total of 46 athletes represented RE Crew across six events, resulting in a historic achievement as the team clinched 7th place overall in scholastic team points among 20 organizations. Notably, RE Crew fielded its first ever boys  varsity 8+ and made waves by finishing 9th overall and claiming an open water victory in the petite final. Throughout the weekend, the team demonstrated unwavering determination, surpassing earlier rivals in tightly contested races. In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, both the Boys Junior 8+ and Girls Junior 4+ secured coveted bids to the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championships. The Boys Junior 8+ finished 5th place overall and 2nd scholastically, while the Girls Junior 4+ secured a 6th place finish overall and 3rd scholastically. These boats are set to continue their pursuit of excellence throughout May, culminating in their participation in the upcoming SRAA National Championships in Camden, NJ, scheduled for May 24th and 25th.
