Middle Schoolers excel at National History Bowl

Ransom Everglades students finished in the top 15 in the nation in three categories at the National History Bowl's 2017 National Championship in Atlanta, Ga., June 1-3. Andres Soto '21, Javi Kumar '22, Zach Marcus '22, Leo Fein '23 and Ian Barnett '23 scored 11th in the team bowl competition, and Fein earned a 13th place in the individual bee for elementary schoolers as Kumar claimed 14th in the seventh-grade competition.
Coach Ali Fisher and nine students, including Tommy Fisher '22, Gabe Mora '22, Joseph Moskovitz ’22 and Jonathan Pollak '23, traveled to the event in Atlanta. In the team bowl, RE's 11th-place team managed a 7-2 overall record, losing in the playoffs to the eventual champion, Basis Independent School of Silicon Valley.

The students were directed throughout the 2016-17 school year by faculty member Joe Mauro.
