Girls JV Soccer Suffers Loss

The Raiders played another tough opponent in Westminster Christian and fell 4-1 to the Warriors.  Our team worked hard to counter their changing formation as the first portion of the game was played in our half.  The Raider defense dealt with all offensive threats including some good saves from Dani Ortiz. Then in the 15th minute Westminster scored after our defense failed to clear a ball in our penalty area.

Down 1-0 at halftime, the coaches moved some players into new positions and emphasized  patient team defense then connecting passes to create offense. Unfortunately, the Warriors scored first in the second half.  The Raiders continued to work hard and scored next when Madison Munroe took the ball away from a defender, dribbled in on goal, and passed it in with her left foot.  The team came out of the second half water break down 2-1 but with momentum from our goal. The Raiders kept the pressure up playing in their half for 5-8 minutes. Unfortunately, we didn’t equalize.. The Warriors regrouped and the game shifted to our end. The Warriors scored twice as our defense become more aggressive and offensive minded.

Lilly Kaplan and Dani Ortiz were named co-MVPs.  We play Westminster again after winter vacation on January 16, 2019.
