Team Finishes with Big Win! Secures .500 record

The girls JV soccer team wrapped up their season with a dominant win over the St. Brendans Sabres, 8-0.  The game started out back and forth then the Raiders settled in as they realized they would have time on the ball.  Next the team started to link passes together, working the wings to get the ball into their penalty area.  The first goal came when Bri Suarez converted a penalty kick created by our strong pressure in front of their goal.  The next goal was scored on a well played break down the right wing by Madison Munroe assisted by Bri Suarez.  Bianca Perez and Ellie Dyke scored unassisted goals after the team created turnovers deep in Sabre territory later in the first half to make the score 4-0 Raiders at halftime.

The team continued with their strong play keeping the ball in St. Brendans' end to begin the second half.  The good work paid off when  the Sabres scored an own goal 10 minutes into the half.  Next Madison Munroe scored her second of the day on a nice shot from the left side of goal after Bianca Perez found her with a pass.  The Raiders' 7th goal was scored by Ellie Dyke, also her second, after she dealt with some defenders at the top of the box.  Bianca Perez then scored her second of day after getting fouled right outside the penalty area and converting the free kick off the goalkeepers hand.

This was the best offensive game of our season with three players scoring 2 goals:  Ellie Dyke, Madison Munroe and Bianca Perez.   Perez also got an assist for a 3 point game a first for the season.  Bri Suarez had herself a 2 point game with a goal and an assist.  It was a great way to end the season and secure a 4-4 record.  A nice reward after struggling with some better opponents recently.  The girls work all season showed itself on game days with improvement both individually and as a team.

The coaches enjoyed working with the girls, watching them grow as soccer players and teammates.  Good luck to everyone this spring on and off the field.
