Art education at RE follows a continuum of rotation and elective courses from the sixth through the 12th grades. In the Middle School, students build a foundation of aesthetic understanding and appreciation and a critical sense as they receive a broad exposure to the arts.

In the Upper School, students are encouraged to explore in greater depth specific arts, including architecture, art history, ceramics, film studies, photography, sculpture, studio art, video production and yearbook.
Classes are held in RE’s 6000-ft2 fine-arts building, which houses state-of-the-art studios, galleries and classrooms. Students learn and create with teachers who are themselves working artists. Students also benefit by access to Miami’s many outstanding private collections, galleries, museums and events such as Art Basel.
New students will find an intense and energized visual and performing arts community at Ransom Everglades. The larger RE community is highly supportive of the arts and concerts, exhibitions, and dramatic productions are often standing-room-only.

Although art is not considered a competitive undertaking at RE, Ransom Everglades students do consistently well in local and national competitions.

In keeping with the school’s ethos, RE art students and their teachers regularly use exhibitions and classes to contribute to the Greater Miami community.
