Spartans Stymied at Stamps Field

MS boys soccer were back in action after the break, welcoming Miami Country Day on what was a fine afternoon. Filled with FIFA-fever the team fired right out of the gates to take an early lead, forcing a penalty only FIVE seconds into the match. MCD kicked off and connected two passes before leading scorer, Lucas Piedrahita, stole the ball in front of the penalty area then was fouled on his way to a sure goal. "Piedra" left no doubt as his well-placed shot from the spot was in the back of the net. Entering the match with zero goals allowed did not stop our Raiders from producing a strong effort against a worthy opponent. However, with seven goals scored it's hard to not talk about the attacking side. "Piedra" added three more goals, to take his season tally to 11, while Sebastian Daes added 2 and Diego Lopez-Ona added a sublime goal to the list. Allowing our first goal of the season did not take away from the fantastic effort shown by Owen Brue, Henry Greengrass, Enzo Stoka, Peter Cejas, and hunter White. These players formed the back line and defensive midfield in front of goalkeepers Austin Gomez and Samuel Bussel-Alonso. The Raiders will not wait long to face their next foe, as they take on Riviera Prep. on Monday. Come cheer them on as they look to continue their fantastic season.
GO RAIDERS!
