Ransom Everglades honored its 2018 inductees to RE's Athletic Hall of Fame – Blake Alders ’79 (soccer); Michael Buttacavoli ’06 (golf); Vanessa Chartouni-de la Serna '90 (cross country and track and field); and James Weaver ’90 (football, tennis and basketball) – with a night of revelry and reminiscing at the Pagoda on April 26. Photo Gallery Interim Athletic Director Andy De Angulo and Head of School Penny Townsend addressed the crowd and congratulated the inductees, who shared their gratitude for RE and stories of their high school days.

Faculty member and longtime coach Doc Crabtree served as the presenter for Chartouni-de la Serna, who went on to Duke University; Jay Flipse '80, a soccer teammate, presented for Alders, who played at Wofford College; Agustin “Konky” Arellano, Jr., '90 introduced his former basketball teammate Weaver, who played tennis and football at The College of Wooster; and Robert Burrow, a golf teammate of Buttacavoli's at Rice, presented for Buttacavoli.

The group was also recognized at the opening dinner of Alumni Weekend 2018 on April 27.

Joshua Greenwald ’87, 2017 inductee

“I feel like I’m the one who should be honoring Ransom Everglades instead of being honored myself. I always felt it was such a privilege to be there at RE.”
