REinventing Excellence

Campaign Priorities

All gifts to Ransom Everglades — whether to The Fund for RE, endowed funds or capital projects — contribute to REinventing Excellence: The Campaign for Ransom Everglades.

We invite every family to start its philanthropy at RE with a gift to The Fund for Ransom Everglades. We hope, too, that each family will be inspired to stretch its giving during the REinventing Excellence campaign, whether through an increased gift to The Fund for RE or an additional gift to one of the campaign priorities.

When you give to this campaign, you are helping to ensure that we have the annual funds to react quickly to needs as they arise, the endowed funds to create a growing source of income for the future and the capital funds to improve facilities for current and future students.

Annual gifts to The Fund for Ransom Everglades have an immediate impact, offering countless opportunities for students to learn to navigate and participate in a dynamic world. Your gift supports a contemporary approach to pedagogy and collaborative, skills-oriented learning while maintaining the fundamental building block of our century-old curriculum: experiential learning.

The Fund for Ransom Everglades provides the financial foundation for enhanced academic, arts and athletic programs, upgraded facilities, a dynamic faculty and many more resources that amplify the RE experience. The Fund for RE also allows for a robust financial aid program that ensures the enrollment of a diverse and talented student body.

Gifts to endowments ensure the school’s long-term financial sustainability and advance our mission of producing high-achieving, public-minded, supremely capable graduates.

  • Unrestricted

Unrestricted endowments contribute to the school’s annual budget, providing a source of support for school operations.

  • Financial Aid

The financial aid program at Ransom Everglades provides students who otherwise could not attend RE the extraordinary benefits of a Ransom Everglades education. For many, financial aid isn’t just fortuitous; it is life-changing.

A strong financial aid program goes beyond making an RE education possible for many students; it also enhances the educational experience for the entire student body. Diversity of background, experience and perspective enriches our entire school community. Ransom Everglades believes building a vibrant, inquisitive, diverse and inclusive student body is as important as developing its faculty, state-of-the-art facilities and the breadth and depth of its educational offerings.

There are several ways to support student financial aid: financial aid impact funds, general scholarship endowments and named scholarship endowments. Financial aid impact funds are for immediate use and are paid annually for a minimum of four years. In contrast, endowments, which may be contributed to over time or through an estate gift, are intended to build a permanent fund to support scholarship aid in perpetuity. Your support of student financial aid can transform a student’s life.

  • Faculty Support

Whether on our faculty for 60 years or six, our teachers understand the power they have to transform students’ lives every day. Our faculty members seek to inspire wonder and curiosity while engaging students in deep – rather than strategic or surface – learning.
To recruit, hire and retain exceptional educators, Ransom Everglades is making faculty support endowments a priority. Ransom Everglades aims to expand the endowment by $13 million in part to support powerful professional and curricular development.

Gifts in support of faculty can be added to existing endowments, such as the Dan Leslie Bowden Endowment in the Humanities, or used to create new fully endowed positions within the school.

Gifts to capital projects allow RE to reimagine the upper school campus – from the La Brisa property and Cameron Hall to the new STEM Center, future dining hall and planned humanities building.

  • La Brisa

The acquisition of the La Brisa property next to the upper school has created an opportunity to redesign the campus.

The La Brisa grounds nearly double our acreage, adding room for new walkways, a new quad and meeting areas. The architecturally significant La Brisa house is part of local history and will be used by the school to create an administrative hub for the school, housing the Head of School’s Office, the Admission Office and the Advancement/Alumni Relations Office.

La Brisa provides something unexpected in the middle of Miami: a swath of unspoiled nature, including a mangrove forest, native flora and access to the bay. Protecting the history and environment of Coconut Grove is an essential part of our stewardship mission. As illustrated in our campus master plan, La Brisa’s green spaces will be carefully preserved.

Located at the campus entrance, the STEM Center creates new opportunities for the kind of indoor/outdoor/experiential learning that has been central to RE’s curriculum from its founding.

      • 10 flexible classrooms
      • 11 labs for earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics
