Cooper Cultural Experience

Tenth-Grade Signature Program:

Cooper Cultural Experience

The Cooper Cultural Experience offers 10th-grade students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture and art of another city – with an emphasis on the visual and performing arts – guided by members of the RE arts department. Students selected for the experience are exposed to the distinct flavor of a city through experiences at museums, performances, exhibitions, landmarks, distinct restaurants and other culturally significant venues. The goal of the experience is to inspire students to advance their own arts journeys or take the first steps down a new path of artistic appreciation and inspiration.

The first annual Cooper Cultural Experience took place in Chicago during spring break in 2025, led by members of RE's art department. The experience offered a broad and dynamic immersion into the visual and performing arts in Chicago; the trip included
an architecture boat tour and walk through Millennium Park to view "The Bean" sculpture; a walk to Willis Tower and the Ledge at Skydeck Chicago; the Chicago Secret Interior Walking Tour; a jazz show; and visits to the American Writers Museum, Fine Arts Building, Museum of Contemporary Photography and the Art Institute of Chicago. A gift from RE parents Heidi and John Cooper created the funding for this special experience.
